The STEYR Aug (Armee Universal Gewehr) is an assault rifle put into service in the early 80s. It is among the precursors in the design of "Bullpup" type weapons. This is a design principle, the objective of which is to reduce the length of a weapon, while maintaining maximum barrel length. For this the mechanics and the magazine are placed behind the handle, in the stock.
