Pietta replica of the famous compact Colt 1860 compact revolver

Black powder revolver for target shooting or cowboy action shooting. The Colt 1862 Sheriff was a short version with a lighter barrel of the famous Colt revolver used by the Confederates (Reb, s) and allowing to draw faster than the standard version.

  • Marbled steel carcass
  • Octagonal barrel 13.9 cm

The Colt 1862 Sheriff is a short version of the Civil War military weapon used by shooters who wanted to be able to draw faster.

The Colt 1862 Army model differs mainly from the Colt 1851 by the carcass / barrel connection which also serves as a guide to the rammer and from the model 1860 by its lighter barrel thanks to milling between the chambers. Subsequently, this revolver was much appreciated by cowboys for its reliability and low weight.

This type of black powder revolver, 6 shots in the parlance of westerns, is an ideal over-the-counter weapon for learning sport shooting.

Reloading requires loose black powder, wads, lead bullets, and primers.
