In the world of Class B semi-automatic rifles, there are still two most popular and coveted models: the AR15 and the AK47. Of different design and operation, the AR-15 and the AK-47 are assault rifles with the longest military careers. The AR15, chambered in 5.56x45 mm was created in the 50s by Eugene STONER for the Armalite company. It is derived from the AR-10 chambered in 7.62x51 mm. Acquired by COLT, the AR 15 will begin its military career in the 1960s under the name "M16". It underwent various improvements over the decades, "M16A2, M16A3", to give birth to a more compact version, the "M4". The latter is equipped with a telescopic stock and a wide possibility of mounting accessories. The design of the AK47 began in 1942 to end in 1947, when it was adopted by the armies of the USSR. From the name of its designer, the Kalashnikov takes up the lines of the first assault rifle in history created by the Germans, the STG44. Reliable, robust, inexpensive and requiring low maintenance, the AK 47 is the most produced weapon in the world with more than 100 million copies manufactured. Chambered in a short version of the 7.62 mm, the 7.62x39 mm is a powerful and precise caliber. Many versions have been derived from the original AK47 with the AKM, AKMS, AK74, AKS-74U, AK103 and lately the AK12 chambered in 5.45x39mm. Renowned for never jamming, the Kalashnikova avtomat was able to withstand desert and polar climates. Highly appreciated in sports shooting circles, semi-automatic rifles are multi-disciplinary with precision shooting and speed shooting. They are also very popular for their great customization, especially with the MILSPEC standard and the multiple fixing systems (Rail Picatinny, M-LOK, Keymod)
