M1 Garand (formally United States Rifle, Caliber .30-06, M1) was the first semi-automatic rifle in the United States to become a common infantry rifle. Officially, he replaced the Springfield 1903 as a rifle in service in 1936, until it was replaced by the M14, derived from the M1, in 1957.
It was used extensively in the Second World War, the Korean War and to a lesser extent in the Vietnam War. It has been used mainly by the United States, but also in other countries. It continues to be used in military training equipment and is a popular civilian firearm.
