The first model produced by Christopher Miner Spencer was the Spencer 1860 rifle, famous for accuracy of shooting and unparalleled speed.
With its construction and tolerances so accurate the 7 metal cartridges were not damaged by moisture. This new lever model could fire faster and be reloaded faster than a 'Colt' revolver.
