About PIETTA

Sodiété Pietta is an Italian family business created in the 1970s and based in the town of Gussago. It is renowned for producing excellent gunpowder or cartridge replicas of western single action pistols, shotguns and rifles, as well as a variety of muzzleloading weapons, and now modern weapons including the very famous Rhino revolver. Driven by a passion for guns, founder Giuseppe Pietta began learning the art of gun making when he was 14 years old. At the age of 22, Pietta collaborated with another factory and Giuseppe set up a room in his house to machine and finish weapon parts. Shortly thereafter, demand for Pietta's products and services skyrocketed. Giuseppe's brother joins the team and the brothers decide to make their own shotgun. The first model, a 12-gauge over-and-under shotgun, was sold in May 1966 for 30,000 lire. A total of 156 rifles were made in Pietta's first year of production, and over 1,000 were made the following year. From there, Pietta began making replicas of historic American guns, models that looked, functioned, and fired the same as they did a century ago. The first order was placed for 10,000 replicas of the Colt Navy 1851 black powder revolver. American dealers were interested in Pietta reproduction models and the line expanded to include the Colt Army Model, a vintage Remington, the 1836 Patterson and the legendary LeMat, a French 2-caliber weapon. Pietta's growth in the market continues and soon replicas of old weapons become its main activity. In 2002, the Single Action Shooting Society awarded the Best Firearm of the Year award to Pietta's recreation of the venerable 1873 Colt Single-Action Army Revolver, also known as the Peacemaker or simply the Colt 45. Pietta also offers a whole range of Colt 1911 pistols in caliber 45, 9x19 and 22LR.
